Third Sunday of Advent

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of Divine Providence,

Not all of you may be aware that a decision has been made to close Mother of Christ Church, one of the churches within our Family. This was not an easy decision, but the decreasing number of parishioners naturally led to a decrease in funds to operate the church. The last Mass will be celebrated at Mother of Christ on December 29th at 11:15 am (a closed Mass for Mother of Christ parishioners).

Mother of Christ was originally established as a Mission of St. Bernard’s 80 years ago. The two places have always shared a pastor as well as celebrating many social and spiritual events together. The present parishioners are welcome to join any parish in the Archdiocese, but the parishioners of St. Bernard have extended special invitations for them to join St. Bernard. They have also been formally invited to join the Church of the Resurrection in Bond Hill.

Please pray for the parishioners of Mother of Christ. Of course, this is a difficult time for all concerned, and it will take time for them to be “at home” in another parish.

Mother of Christ…Pray for us!

Yours in Christ:
—Fr. Haft
