Baptism of the Lord

Greetings in the name of the Lord:

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which is the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry. For us, it brings a conclusion to the Christmas Season. Jesus received from John the Baptist a baptism of repentance in the Jordan River. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is without sin, received this baptism of repentance on behalf of all humanity.

As Jesus began His public ministry with this baptism from John the Baptist, you and I have been baptized into a life of grace in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. On this Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, it is good for us to recall when we were baptized into this life of grace. My baptism was November 14th, 1966 at St. James Church in White Oak, OH. When and where were you baptized?

Yours in Christ:
—Fr. Haft
