Holy Week Liturgies

Greetings in the name of the Lord:

We have now arrived at Holy Week. This is the most sacred time of the liturgical year. The liturgies of Holy Week express the core of our faith in Jesus Christ. Every rite of Holy Week is an act of worship, from the carrying of the palm on Palm Sunday, the washing of the feet on Holy Thursday, the veneration of the Cross on Good Friday, the blessing of the fire and lighting of the Pascal Candle on Holy Saturday, and the renewal of baptismal promises on Easter Sunday. Holy Week truly expresses our faith.

I would like to draw your attention particularly to the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. The Easter Vigil unfolds the history of salvation and points us to Jesus Christ risen in glory. I am making an invitation to everyone to come worship at the Easter Vigil and experience the greatest liturgy of the Church Year. Unfortunately, the greatest and most important liturgy of the Church usually has the fewest number of people. Let’s change that this year and have the greatest number of people worship at the Easter Vigil. Here is a link to an article that gives a good explanation of the Easter Vigil

Looking forward to seeing many people at the Easter Vigil and all Holy Week Liturgies.

Yours in Christ:
Fr. Haft
