Greetings in the name of the Lord:
The Catholic Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month every October. As this month is drawing to a close, it is important for us as disciples of Jesus Christ to be properly educated and formed in all life issues.
At the heart of every life issue is the dignity of the human person from the moment of conception to natural death. Discussion of life issues can be very polarizing, for people of every persuasion. Even within the Catholic Church, we hear things like: “I don’t agree with that,” “the Church is wrong,” “the Church needs to stay out of that,” and a number of other statements.
I would like to encourage us to open our hearts and minds, and look in depth at all life issues without judgment or pre-conceived ideas. Here is a link to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Respect Life webpage with very well written articles: respectlife.org/articles
Before reading each article, pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to open your heart and mind to seeing the dignity of every human person, from the moment of conception to natural death. Let’s build a culture of life together for all of humanity.
Yours in Christ:
Fr. Ronald Haft
